My name is Ms. Grays and I'm your Library Media Specialist at Barack H. Obama Elementary Magnet School of Technology. This is my 7th year at Barack Obama Elementary, the first four years as the Library Media Assistant, and the last three years as the Library Media Specialist.  I have over a decade of experience working in the library from public libraries, to university libraries and now a school library.  I love my job and what I do. I have loved libraries, books and reading since I was in elementary school and I am thrilled to be able to work in my dream job.  I believe that library are important to all because access to literacy is important for all people. The school library is a safe and welcoming space for all our students where books and stories provide an opportunity fr students to find themselves and imagine themselves in what they read.  Here in the library we encourage students creativity, critical thinking, collaboration and communication. Our ultimate goal is to make students life long readers who love books.  

In addition to being the school Library Media Specialist, I am also the sponsor of several library media center clubs: Broadcast, Student Library Assistants, Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl and Makerspace Club.
